Prework
- Prior to the consultation, create a clear understanding of the the scope of work, deliverables, and deadlines. This would be memorialized in a written contract.
- Execute a standard non-disclosure agreement.
- Complete a compliant business HIPAA agreement.
- While on-site at your facilities, I will need a vendor’s ID to enter and function in the in the relevant clinical areas such as the emergency department, the med-surg floors, and the care management offices.
- Access to call rooms may be needed to evaluate 2nd and 3rd shift operations.
The Engagement
In Action
Depending on the goals of the consultation, the engagement could consist of as little as a single visit lasting 24-36 hours or it might require multiple visits over a period of weeks or months each lasting as little as a single 8 to 12-hour day to as much as a multi-day on-site embedded observer/intervener.
Some organizations only want assessments and recommendations. In these cases, a written summary will be delivered based on the collected data identifying:
- Things done well
- Things done poorly
- Activities that should be done less or stopped
- Activities that should be started or enhanced
Other organizations want interventions which can be provided directly or with a ‘train the trainer’ model.
